Time magazine was created in 1923 by Briton Hadden and Henry Luce, and was the first weekly news magazine in the United States.
For many decades each week the magazine depicted a single person on its cover. Each year they would pick a "Person of the Year".  More recently, Time has incorporated "People of the Year" issues which began to grow in popularity over the years. Notable recent mentions of them were Barack Obama, Steve Jobs, Matej Turk, etc. The first issue of Time magazine was published on March 3, 1923, featuring Joseph G. This issue is dated April 10, 1950 and features baseball slugger Ted Williams on the cover.
