The cover photo, by Mark Kauffman features future Hall of Fame third baseman Eddie Mathews at the plate for the Braves at Milwaukee's County Stadium.  There is no story on Mathews or the Braves in that issue, in fact, the only mention of Mathews refers to him as "Ed" and is used on the contents page to describe the cover image, it is also how Mathews is referred to in his 1954 Topps baseball card, which is one of 27 included with the issue.  The other Topps cards included in this issue are those of Al Rosen, Gus Zernial, Willie Mays, Wally Moon, Vern Law, Jim Rivera, Harvey Haddix, Ted Kluszewski, Ray Boone, Duke Snider, Bob Turley, Richie Ashburn, Bob Keegan, Pete Runnels, Ray Boone, Harvey Kuenn, Jackie Robinson, Ferris Fain, Johnny Antonelli, Ray Jablonski, Jim Hegan,Gill Hodges, Larry Doby, Ted Williams, Granny Hamner and Mel Parnell.

This particular issue includes the original mailing envelope.  The issue has never been opened beyond 20% for examination and has only been out of the original envelope three times since 1954. The first time was on the date received.  The issue was not read and was accidentally put in a closet with other magazines and forgotten.  The second time it was removed was when we inspected the item at the time of purchase.  The last time it was removed was when we took the pictures used in this listing.  The magazine has been returned to its archival box and placed back in its bank vault.

The cover and all pages are still vibrant with full color.  No foxing, no toning no staple rust or separations and no other problems.  We grade this issue at 9.6 to 9.8.
